I am participating in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year as the accompanist for Carmen High, a modern retelling of the opera Carmen that takes place in a high school. Bizet’s music is interpolated with pop songs and dance numbers.
Little Annie Rooney, a 1925 silent film starring Mary Pickford, will be presented with my score at the Egyptian Theatre on Saturday, July 16. The music was recorded by 12 musicians, including myself at the piano, last year.
A recital of works I composed during my time at Pepperdine will be given at 12 noon at Pepperdine on Saturday, April 25. The works include a solo viola piece, a trio for guitar, double bass, and percussion, an art song for soprano and piano, a piano quartet, a choral piece, and an electro-acoustic piece for piano, percussion, and playback.
I have also been part of a very exciting project with the Mary Pickford Foundation, which commissioned scores to three of Mary Pickford’s short films from me and two other student composers at Pepperdine. The scores are written for a chamber ensemble (in which I am also playing piano) and will be premiered at an event called Up Against the Screen on Saturday, April 12, and it’s FREE! More information can be found here.
I will be performing Rhapsody in Blue with the Pepperdine University Orchestra at 7:30 on Thursday, April 10 as part of the Pepperdine Orchestra and Choir Masterworks Concert. Tickets are $10. You can purchase tickets and get more information about the event here.
